Join us at Stanislaus National Forest in sponsoring tribal workforce development by creating green jobs, empowering Indigenous youths, and restoring ancestral lands. We will be funding Me-Wuk conservation corps and working alongside tribal leaders with Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) to bridge modern ecological restoration with native practices to combat climate change, protect endangered habitats, and promote cultural preservation. Help renowned ecohydrologist and beaver expert, Professor Emily Fairfax, with her groundbreaking research focused on the effects of beaver ecosystem engineering on drought and wildfire resistance in the face of climate change. We will be trained on using Timelapse Analyzers to assess AI-tagged images and gather data on specific beaver activities using traditional field note protocols with continuous game camera (camera trap) footage.

Join us on an educational field study guided by SLO Beaver Brigade. We will be visiting beaver families, studying their habitat, and learn how to help scientists monitor the health of beaver dam complex at Salina River. This is a 2hr tour involving a 1-mile walk around a pond on sandy, rocky trails. Water shoes , old sneakers you don’t mind getting wet, or tall boots are recommended as we will be walk into the stream up to our shins.
