Enthusiasm for Beaver Dam Analogs at the Mountain View Community Non-Profit Fair

By Kiefer Chow and Amelia Chow. August 30, 2025

Fascination with the beavers’ adapt engineering skills attracted many looking to make an impact in our community at the Non-Profit Volunteer Fair in Mountain View. Despite another record breaking heat outside, eyes beamed with hope and excitement as we shared the mission of Eco-Engineering in Action and the benefits of beaver dams on our environment. Meeting so many people who are also eager to roll up their sleeves to restore our ecosystems further reinforced our organization’s purpose which is to combining science and technology with nature principles in the fight against climate resilience.

One of the best parts of the outreach event was definitely networking and learning about other non-profit organizations. There were groups focused on animal rescues, tree planting, bringing STEM to underprivileged children, and many more. It was invigorating to be in a room full of people with a passion and a calling to improve our community for the better.

In addition to being adept and cute, beavers are tireless; their work is not ever done as they continuously work to maintain and improve their habitat. These riparians are therefore good role models for us and a reminder that we too, must never stop caring for our home, our environment, the Planet Earth.
