Fundraising provides the financial resources needed to sustain daily operations, recruit volunteers, and provide community educational events. Building beaver dam analogs also requires heavy duty gloves, eye protection goggles, loppers, shovels, hand saws, and large sleds. Porta potty rentals and service also needs to be taken into account. Obtaining official 501(c)(3) certification provides tax-deductible benefits for individual donors and opens doors to foundational grants and corporate matching.
Our humble beginnings consisted of leveraging our many years of club volleyball experience to coach kids in the community who are interested in developing skills in volleyball. We donated the money we made to Eco-engineering in Action. We also competed in the National Geographic Society Innovation Award and won $5k in seed fund. We held fundraising campaigns through crowdfundraising platforms, social media, and our website. These private donations were often doubled by Corporate matchings. With the money raised, we have been able to purchase equipment, donate to our partnering beaver dam analog construction organizations, and host educational beaver habitat tours and citizen science projects such as river water quality testing and beaver activity monitoring. We also used part of the funds to sponsor 7 Mi-Wuk Tribal Youth Conservation Corps members. By providing employment opportunities and workforce training for these youths, we also benefit from the restored habitat and wetlands. Every dollar has been used to further our mission in environmental restoration and youth empowerment. We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support!
